I’ve been to this sushi restaurant in Lakewood Ranch several times now, and it has been excellent every visit. The sushi is always fresh, the presentation is great, and the quality is consistently impressive. I’ve tried a variety of rolls and appetizers, and everything has been flavorful and well-prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. It’s become one of my favorite spots in the area, and I find myself coming back again and again. If you’re looking for great sushi in Lakewood Ranch, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I’ve already been multiple times, and I know I’ll be back many more times in the future.
🌊 Tsunami is one of those places where the food may bring you in, but the people are what make you want to come back. There’s a genuinely warm, authentic quality to the staff here that’s increasingly hard to find. The bar team, headed by Dave Roth, is excellent—professional, personable, attentive and always capable of making the bar feel like the place you want to be. I’m a regular and they rock! 🎸 The wait staff is equally impressive, and Lydia is an absolute standout. 🍣 These aren’t people going through the motions of hospitality; they actually engage with you, remember details and make you feel welcome. Even the host staff deserves recognition. Tsunami seems to have a knack for choosing smart, sweet, personable men and women who pay attention to the little things. That attention to detail carries throughout the restaurant. 🙌 And then there’s the atmosphere: sushi being prepared in front of you, the incredible re-interpretation of Hokusai’s Great Wave overlooking the sushi bar, the lighting, the artwork and all the small touches that give the restaurant its personality. Great sushi matters. Great drinks matter. But hospitality is ultimately about people taking care of people, and Tsunami gets that right. 💕 A terrific neighborhood restaurant with personality, heart and a staff worth getting to know. Tsunami in Lakewood Ranch delivers consistently good sushi — clean cuts, fresh fish, and polished presentation — but what elevates the experience is how intentionally everything is put together beyond the plate. While most of the dining room is traditional table seating, the experience itself is bar-led. The bar program and staff knowledge noticeably shape how the menu is meant to be enjoyed. Bartenders ask the right questions, offer thoughtful sake recommendations, and can explain styles and pairings in a way that actually makes sense with the food. If you want that level of guidance, sitting at the bar is where Tsunami really clicks. We’ve had David as a bartender several times and have appreciated his recommendations. If you haven’t been in a while, the chairs have improved from when they first opened. Yes, it’s on the pricier side — but you’re paying for service, atmosphere, and cohesion, not just raw fish. The decor is immersive and detailed, and even small touches (lighting, design elements, bathrooms) feel considered rather than incidental.
